Civil Rights Litigation
Blue Stephens & Fellers LLP represents plaintiffs in lawsuits that seek to enforce state and federal anti-discrimination and civil rights laws. Our lawyers have significant expreience representing employees who have been the victims of unlawful discrimination in the workplace, often based on race and gender. We represent people who work for both private and government employers, and bring claims that seek damages and injunctive relief for adverse employment actions such as the failure to hire and promote, harrassment, termination and retaliation.
We also counsel progressive institutions that are committed to developing and defending their own anti-discrimination policies in court. For example, we currently are defending a corporate client in federal court against reverse discrimination claims arising from the client's co-development and implementation of an affirmative action program on behalf of a professional sports league.
A significant component of our Civil Rights practice also includes litigating personal injury and civil rights claims on behalf of inmates or their estates. When inmates suffer damages because they have been denied proper medical care, state and federal law entitles them to file a lawsuit for the deprivation of civil rights.
