Dan Blue Receives High Honor from North Carolina State Bar

At a lunch meeting hosted by the North Carolina State Bar, Daniel T. Blue, Jr., founding partner of Blue Stephens & Fellers LLP, received the Bar's John B. McMillan Distinguished Service Award. The award honors current and retired members of the North Carolina State Bar who have demonstrated exemplary service to the legal profession. More than 600 attendees were on hand to view the awards ceremony.

BSF Client and Department of Justice Settle Race Harassment and Discrimination Claims Against Burke County Department of Social Services

The US Department of Justice (DOJ) reached a settlement agreement today with the Burke County, North Carolina, Department of Social Services, resolving an employment discrimination claim that was filed by a female, African-American employee with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. The employee, represented by Dhamian Blue of Blue Stephens & Fellers LLP, alleged that her immediate supervisor violated Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 by repeatedly using a racial epithet that fostered a hostile work environment and ultimately led to the termination of her employment. The employee further contended that the absence of adequate training resulted in her supervisor's unlawful conduct.
