Dan Blue III Appointed to Board for DHIC, Inc.

Firm Wins Fourth Circuit Appeal Challenging Application of the Armed Career Criminal Act

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit issued its opinion today in U.S. v. Kerr, No. 10-4557, vacating a 268 month sentence that was imposed after a jury convicted the defendant on one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in violation of 18 U.S.C. §§ 922(g)(1) and 924(e). Mr. Kerr was represented on appeal by Dhamian Blue and Jenna Turner Blue of Blue Stephens & Fellers LLP.

Federal Court Approves Settlement in Inmate Death Case

A federal judge in the Western District of North Carolina has approved a wrongful death settlement that will compensate the minor child of a mentally ill man who killed himself while he was confined in the Burke-Catawba District Confinement Facility, located in Morganton, North Carolina.
